We're kicking off 2018 right with some new videos from our crew. Check them out!
Our guys Phil & Vinay got on the decks for a little practice and the fine gents at Sharkpig jumped on to film the session. (I had to join in on the fun as well.) I'm just blown away by these videos, the content & striking visual presentation is beyond anything we have done so far. Hope you enjoy them! -MICHAEL
from the mind of our friend wade from sharkpig comes this beautiful wedding film which stopped me in my tracks in the middle of a very busy day. i saw the first clip of this video and couldn't take my eyes off of it. definitely helps that it's cut to one of my favorite songs of all time (Waterfall - Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear)
Mike Cruz’s skills on the ones-and-twos and his understated charm have led him to play gigs all over the world - from Jamaica, Bermuda, and the Bahamas, to back in LA at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery where he played for James Franco. He has also played private estates, launch events, the Oh Joy! brunch for Target, Steven Alan in Los Feliz, an Ashley Paige runway event at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, poolside at the Standard Hotel Sunset, an HBO curated event at Marvimon, the legendary “Doin’ In the Park,” and held down a residency with Nosaj Thing at the renowned "Crosby," just to name a few. Mike's college radio show on KUCI 88.9 FM was revered by the underground & had the unique distinction of being one of the only Hip Hop radio shows at the time to have Bloc Party, of Montreal, Broken Social Scene, Tim Kasher, The Notwist, Cut Copy, LCD Soundsystem, and Ratatat on its playlists. Being exposed to so much music & interviewing artists including The Jungle Brothers, People Under the Stairs, & Justin Bua has guided his career and given him a unique perspective. We are so stoked to call him a friend, collaborator, and colleague... all of us here at the Flashdance couldn't feel more lucky.
Tengku Nabila sent us email that said something like, "So...my friends and I are going to Bali for a couple of weeks and we want to know if you'd like to join us and make a travel video."
The answer we wrote back was something like, "Yes. We'd like to do that. The answer is yes. Yes please, thank you. Yes....Yep."
We got very lucky and hope to repay Nabila and her friends by making a couple of videos that melt faces and hearts. Here is the first, and there's a lot more material to come.
a person who raised the spirits of everyone she met passed away over the weekend. linda was the style icon and bellowing voice of the ace hotel in palm springs. she brought the house down every damn night in that place and it just won't be the same without her.
here is a video of elizabeth, baby elodie, and our dear friends from the ace hotel experiencing her lovely serenade for the very first time before the hotel even opened. she was so great! we'll miss you ms. fabulous fly high!
Live Mode from Michael Antonia on Vimeo. another in a long series of practice videos where i practice some new mixes, sharkpig practices some new filming techniques and the result varies. i like this mix a lot. this one was 1st take! enjoy. -MICHAEL
Thank God that the Holidays are almost over. We are nearly dead from the parties. But this was a really fun one. Those girls over at Bash Please are the hostesesses with the mostesses. Have you been to The Fig House yet?
a few months ago i started work on a jay-z breakdown... maybe it will turn into a mixtape sometime.
