YEAH! weddings was a contest to win a completely free wedding with the entire flashdance crew (Our Labor of Love, Max Wanger, Sharkpig, YEAH! Rentals, & Smilebooth) & all of our favorite friendors in the industry including Bash Please, Pharmacie, Tehra Thorp, Scootbaker, Landish, Geronimo Balloons, Casa de Perrin, Jeffery Valet, Lovely Bride, BHLDN, The Grunion Run, Symmetry Beauty, ban.do, Copper Willow, Myles Nye, LA Follies, Ace Hotel, 1342, Renaissance Albums and on and on!
this was an event we will all remember for a very long time mostly because it was like we were throwing our own party! my best memory of the night was the end of the danceparty when everyone who worked so hard on the event was drenched head to toe in sweat dancing their faces of alongside all of the guests. so rad.
the work speaks for itself so have a look. 100 Layer Cake & Green Wedding Shoes will be running posts all day today with tons more content, the detailed story, and some behind the scenes of how this whole thing came to be... check it out! |

it's pretty difficult for me to put into words how fresh this wedding was... first of all this was a full FLASHBASH (and by that i mean all of the flashdance and bash please together) wedding! i djed, sharkpig handled the film/video, max was the photographer, YEAH! Rentals handled the furniture rentals, and smilebooth smileboothed. but man, there was sooooooooooooooo much more... they rented out the whole ace hotel for three days, the it house in joshua tree for their ceremony, they had a high school marching band, REBIRTH BRASS BAND all the way from new orleans, pretty much every food and beverage vendor in the world that has a truck lined the walkways, there was a vintage jaquar in place of an elephant for their take on a baraat, i could go on and on but i think you get the picture (if you don't... see below)
|

| one of my best memories of the weekend was when brian and i started a beach ball fight (we were in the pool and we were against everyone in the hot tub (i think, but it was sort of everyone for themselves) with all the guests at around 2 am on sunday (look at all of those beach balls) and after demolishing that beach ball fight, trays of (i am not joking) 100 shots of tequilla came out! hahaha, that was followed by 100 tecates, (they literally ordered 100 shots & 100 beers!!!) then came a never ending stream of food. we felt like kings for awhile there, kings coming back from war. |
| and danced... to ANYTHING (and everything) i played! what a treat. |
| but it was also split up between three parts on 100 Layer Cake! check out even more here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 |

From Brian (aka SHARKPIG): I've just had the privilege of working with the Jordanian board of tourism, on an ultra fast paced video portrait of the country. The pace being that of the trip itself, and also what I intend to make as a product. Due to an already pretty full schedule in Europe, I only had 47 hours to spare. I arrived in Amman at around 4:30 AM and started shooting at 8am. We basically didn't stop moving for two days, except this moment here where I had to remain as still as possible for this self portrait in Wadi Rum. I was out in the desert alone trying to capture some grandiose moon lit night landscapes for a time lapse, but they weren't really working that well. There were wild dogs growling and barking at me, but it was too dark to see where they were coming from. I decided to scrap it around midnight and try for a singe image. It took a few variations, but this was a 30 second exposure, lit by the Bedouin camps just beyond the horizon, the moon, and my phone.
Because I'm literally one of the world's incompetent photographers, I had to send the image to Flashdance member, Max Wanger for his expert processing. Standing there in the night, I realized that Shark Pig had opened up doors for me that I never expected. For this, I am overwhelmingly grateful to my clients and my colleagues. Just to let you know, I'm planning on running with it! |
