DJ P is my personal favorite dj. he is one of the reasons i do what i do, he is a mega talent and a true pioneer. this video is about the best thing ever, highly suggested!! it starts a little slow so you might wanna fast forward 5 minutes if you have A.D.D. put it on full screen and turn it up loud! happy halloween. if nothing else, at least fast forward to 32:29 absolute magic!

i have done weddings for a really long time, but before we started the flashdance, it was mostly word of mouth amongst friends, and friends of friends and friends of friends of friends! if your friend comes to your wedding (working or not) you are going to treat them as well as you possibly can so it was a big surprise for me to learn about the vendor or staff meal. i like to think that the people who hire me will become my friends, and i always do whatever i can to treat them as such... i wouldn't feed my friends something that looks like this for dinner!

there are some people out there who try to cut a few corners and save a buck or two by providing the people who are working at their wedding with what they call a vendor meal (this usually means truck stop food) i have seen some pretty gnarly things this past year and i thought i would speak up on behalf of myself and all of the people who i work with and say DON'T DO THAT.

that delicious looking meal is courtesy of our favorite restaurant in Atlanta dynamic dish most people who are planning a wedding wouldn't really know this but many catering companies version of a vendor meal (or maybe they sell it to you with a clever name like family meal) is a soggy leftover piece of meat, a day or two old sandwich or worse along with a wilted salad, a bag of doritos, and a chocolate chip cookie! i wouldn't feed this to my dog, let alone someone who is in charge of my most important day, memories, details etc. it is insulting and classless! at the very least i would insure that the coordinator, photographers, and musicians / dj (people who will work a 10 + hour shift that you really need to have on point) get a meal similar to what the rest of the guests were having. i understand the need to keep costs down, & i certainly don't need a 4 course meal, in fact i can't even eat that much when i am working but nothing changes a perfect day into a crappy job faster than the vendor meal! i guarantee you that the extra $100 will be worth it in the end! you will have a better reception because of it, and your vendors won't be stuck in the bathroom (i have heard stories!) and giving you the stink eye all night because you fed them school lunch. there, that is my etiquette lesson for the day, now call your caterer. p.s. dear, catering companies... the vendors at your wedding have blogs, twitter, facebook, & yelp accounts... you might want to reconsider how you treat them. we know this is not all the fault of the couple, it is not hard to provide a good meal that is inexpensive.

i kinda wanna get married to melanie and sky's wedding... they just had one of those weddings that you wish you were invited to (i guess working there was a close second). they had it all, ceremony in a beautiful park overlooking the pacific, (ahem, she walked down the aisle to Henry Mancini's theme for The Pink Panther) i mean come on? who is awesome enough to do that?!? dinner was on a mezzanine facing the sun setting over the water, and the danceparty was, even by my standards, off the hook! oh yeah, they also had the smilebooth and they really went off in it (evidence below!)... the whole wedding is up over at 100 layer cake including a new time lapse video i made for them so be sure to check that out. dinner photo below courtsey of Michelle M. Brian's description: I heard this song on Michael's Song's for September mix and really wanted to try something with it. I knew the HD video I shot at Suzanna and Kegan's wedding would be perfect! It looks a lot different from the Super 8mm I shot earlier that day. but I think it's really beautiful as well. the ace hotel could not possibly be any better! i stayed all week and fell in love with new york all over again because of it. stumptown coffee is finally open, breslin had their friends and family opening and it was dope, i got a sneak peek at the new event space and it is going to be the best reception venue in town! the hotel, the service, and the facilities are world class. i am so proud of all of my friends who have worked so hard to open the two best hotels in the country in the same year! well done.

in related news i heard (bumping from cars) / listened to (laptop in my room) jay z's - empire state of mind about 1047 times while i was in town! the best time was hearing it on the radio while driving across the williamsburg bridge around midnight on sunday with brian, and our friends drew, and anyi, it was the icing on the cake of a perfect moment! download or listen to it below and just try to tell me that hip hop is dead!
