| jesse was really on a roll at ben & crystal's wedding and since we were all there (not to mention a bunch of our friends) i took every opportunity i could get to jump in front of her lens, or grab her and say "jess, will you take a picture of me here? oh, wait, how about over here?" it's amazing that she still managed to get all of those incredible shots with me bugging her all day! |
| ben's dad's house has this amazing gradient wall that starts out magenta on the floor and fades to bubble gum pink at the top of the cathedral ceilings! it must have taken FOREVER to paint, and it is flawless! we made very good use of it! it was amazing. |
| (self?) portrait... from L to R max, jesse, michael, whitney (we were trying to look really serious!) humor. |
brian
i wish i could tell you all about the meaning behind this video but i am afraid that none of us really fully get it... my friend brian and i have spent a lot of time on the road together and when you are on the road with someone for long stretches of time you have a bunch of weird inside jokes and some of them (like this one about strudel) don't even make any sense. also our friend drew (who lives in NY) thinks that all we do in LA is eat brunch... (honestly we do eat brunch quite a lot)... then we met a guy named pancake at king eddy's which is this bar we like that charles bukowski used to hang out at. and then we did THIS wedding and jesse took these pictures of us and... well just watch the video... mainly it is about daydreaming while i practice and record in my studio which is pretty much a daily occurrence.

Chances are you or someone you know, knows someone from Fairfield, Iowa. Don't ask me how that works, just know that it's true. Many people in the Transcendental Meditation (or TM) community moved to Fairfield in the 70's to raise their children and meditate in giant saucer-like golden domes. TM brought to the west by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi decades earlier, and popularized by the Beatles and more recently David Lynch, is the basis of a school and university in this otherwise typical ten thousand person town in south eastern Iowa.
Whitney went to school there (as did most of our closest friends) and the more we travel around the more people we meet from Fairfield. Ben & Crystal are from Fairfield which is how we first became acquainted... Their wedding brought together a bunch of old friends from all over the map many of which Whitney and I have known for years. So this was really a pretty special day for all of us.
Here is some eye candy from jesse, whitney & max, and all the way at the bottom of the post is a downloadable MP3 from the audio recording of the DJ set, along with a new DJ video (for those of you into that sort of thing)
here are some of jesse & whitney's photos |

| here are some of max's photos (yes, really! all of us, even the smilebooth! i KNOW right?!) |
The full story and a little about the couple is up over at 100 Layer Cake. I highly suggest you head over and check it out if only to see a picture of max!?!?, but before you go...
i recorded the dj set that night (which i have been doing a lot of lately) and the opening 15 or so minutes really stood out so i thought i'd put it up for you guys to download and listen to. |
| then brian had a rad idea for a video so we made this, based on that 15 minute set. this is only about 3 minutes of it and the rest will be popping up here, and there in the coming weeks (make sure you watch it right to the end for maximum effect!) |

| this was made for a couple that had a certified brilliant idea... you know how some people put disposable cameras on the tables at a wedding? (by the way, don't ever do that!) well, they didn't do that! they are film nerds, they put loaded super 8 mm cameras out for their friends (a bunch more film nerds) to shoot with. they had brian (see below) shoot a bunch on top of that, then he had all of the film developed, converted to digital and he cut it to one of our favorite love songs! he is on the road now filming a couple weddings in the mountains outside of seattle, and in the woods in colorado so stay tuned for more of these beautiful little wedding music videos. want one of your wedding? it is not as pricey as you might think! email us |
| brian is one of our biggest behind the scenes contributors, he has had his hand in the flashdance since before we launched, and he has decided (after attending some obscene number of weddings with us this year) to start offering his amazing talent to the wedding world (we could not be more pleased by this decision). he is another one of our fairfield friends (more on this tomorrow) who studied film at the Maharishi University of Management and has since produced several shorts, music videos, and countless unique film projects. we have also toured together, performed together and become really great friends over the last couple years and it is with great pleasure that i introduce his work to you. |
